I had a devotion today on Psalm 23 with a group of my university friends, and we talked about rest.
I’ve broached this topic many times but I return to it again and again because I never seem to learn the lesson.
You need rest. And I don’t just mean downtime, although that is important too. You need time to rest in God and rest in His Word… meditating on it and listening.
The world is crazy and everyone I talk to is insanely busy with study or work or family or their partners or social issues or any plethora of other things.
I’ve been very busy this semester so far working and volunteering and studying and I have absolutely burnt myself out so much that recovery time will take longer than I can afford to give.
Please for the sake of your health, rest. Rest in a refreshing way, not drunken or stoned or eyeballs deep in gardening or crafting as a distraction activity. Find rest in your Lord.
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Matthew 11:28-30
Stay safe,
